Super Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Super Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Chocolate chip cookies are that classic dessert that everyone loves, but how do you make that perfectly soft, delicious, drool-worthy, chocolately cookie every single time? Well let me be the first to tell you, it is definitely NOT by using the cookie mix out a package from the grocery store. Not that there is anything wrong with using store-bought, pre-packaged baked good mixes (trust me, I use them all the time), but they definitely can't make a super soft, melt-in-your-mouth, heavenly cookie like this.
The best thing about making homemade chocolate chip cookies is that you really don't need too many ingredients that you probably don't already have sitting in your pantry already. So first thing is first, I always heat my oven to 375, then set two sticks of butter on the front of the oven to get them warmed up just a little. Then, I take a half cup of white sugar and brown sugar, two eggs, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla and mix that together with my butter. Once those are mixed into a not-so-appetizing concoction, I add 2 cups of flour (and try not to get it all over myself and my kitchen counter, but as you can see below I got it everywhere).
Once that is mixed together beautifully and any butter chunks are eliminated, I add in about a cup and a half of semi-sweet chocolate chips. Once the chocolate chips are mixed into the dough, I spray my sheet pans and a small ice cream scoop with cooking spray. I highly recommend always using a small ice cream scoop to get your cookie dough into nice, evenly sized balls.
Let the cookies bake for about 13 minutes, until they are lightly browned around the edges. If you would like your cookies extra chocolatey, you can take them out about two minutes early and add more chocolate chips on top before returning them back into the oven. Make sure your cookies are cooled before trying to get them off of the tray. Since they are so soft, they will break easily if they're still hot. I like to use this huge cookie spatula that my sister-in-law bought us for a wedding gift!
Warning: these are addicting and insanely delicious, so don't say I didn't warn you when you accidentally end up eating a dozen in an hour. These cookies are great to take to parties or family events because they are so good and so quick and easy to make! Hope you enjoy them as much as my husband and I do!
